Question What to do with a StageII Mopar 360 V8 ?

Since it's all in the family now (Daimler-Chrysler), any suggestions on what Mopar car could take a Jasper Stage II Mopar 360 V8 (with matching tranny, and 4.11 LSD, and Doug Thorley Headers) plus make a fun track car (twisties, not just drag racing)?

I'm ready to retire my 1978 Dodge "Street" Van, but the powertrain has
less than 50K miles on it. Plus, it makes 390 lb-ft in torque and 322 HP.

I'd say either a '70ish Challenger or 'Cuda

I have a '69 Cuda with a 340 inch motor. Are you interested?

I think you should stuff it into some sort of 1,200 lb. kit car, something along the lines of a Caterham 7. Well, okay, maybe 1,400 lbs, that IS a lot of torque...

Don't forget to include NASCAR brakes, and some sort of aero package to keep it on the ground!

Wink

I could tell you what to do with it Curcio.

But it might upset your tender sensibilities.

My brother had a similar problem with a built 400ci V8 Chevy from a full-size van that he retired. He stuffed the motor into an Astro Van. The original V6 Astro van motor is essentially 3/4 of the 400 V8, so it bolted right in. A little bit of cooling system work and a programmable fuel injection did the trick. It's very fast and handles well. Right now the rear suspension is the limiting factor, but it gets something like 350hp to the ground. I drove it a month ago. Fun!

Give it to me. I enjoy adopting unwanted Mopars.

Ted- I read your listing on Ebay, and your LAST comment made me thinking. . .

How about a Grand Fury station wagon with my Jasper V8 in it?

Would it fit easiely? Can it be modified with Factory parts to make it handle like the Grand Fury you're selling?

Thanks,
:-) neil

This is Ted

I'm not selling it, but it happens to be in my neck of the woods.

A 360 should swap in easily as the 318/360/440 were options for those cars.

Forgot to mention that there all plenty of aftermarket houses that sell suspension parts. Pick up any Hot Rod or Car Craft magazine and you'll see. I can even get a polygrphite-bushing set up all around for my '69 Fleetwood -- oh and rear anti-sway bar. (Performance Suspension Technology). What a boat!

Is there a Chrysler mini-van that my small-block 360V8 can bolt-up to easily with minimum fabrication?

I'm thinking NOT, since I'm 99% sure they are all front-wheel drive.

Thanks,
:-) neil

Oh you *could* but not without a lot of work. And they are all FWD

The whole driveline could be pulled and make it RWD, but again, tons of work. How 'bout a Mopar full size van?

I already have a full-sized 3/4 Ton Mopar "Street" van, the performance alternative to the "Lil'Red Wagon" from 1977-1979.

If I could find a nice non-fuel-injected Mopar van without motor (aka, rolling chassis) with A/C and a tow-package, that would be ideal.

Go with a "cube van". Plain jane white and dog dish wheel caps. Now that's a sleeper!

All the Chrysler mini-vans were front-wheel-drive. Neil, you really have a soft spot for hot rod wagons, don't you?
