Question Has anyone changed their differential from BergWerks?

I was speaking to BergWerks about changing my differential on my C43 to about 12% higher gearing.

Has anyone done it? Are you happy with the outcome? and the company? Is the differential still quiet?

Thanx in advance.

Why are you going to a HIGHER ratio?

He's referring to a numerically higher gear ratio. Probably a 3.27 or such.

Yes, though 3.45:1 actually. The car has 3.07:1 now so going to 3.27:1 would only yeild 6.5% increase in linear force at the tire's contact patch over stock. 3.45:1 yeilds 12.3% increase; and would have me shifting to 3rd right at about 60mph as opposed to the 66mph it shifts at now.

Anyway, has anyone done it? They called me to tell me they were working on two and wanted to know if I was going to go for it, so they could do all three at the same time. I decided not to at the time as it would have been a two week process even with everything working like clockwork, due to the reprogramming of the tranni ECU that was required... and no reference that I know of to ask what their experience was. I'm wondering if any of the recipients of those differentials are members here and what your experience is?

Thanx all.

Thumbs up

I haven't done a differential change from them, but I have personnally met both Carl Genberg and Steve Lemberg and done business with them at Bergwerks. I think they are a couple of the best professionals you will find to work on your Mercedes.

Carl did the 2.82 swap on my E420. I think my car was the gunniea pig. Good guys. I think the best time they got 0-60 was 6.4 sec. Not bad for a 10 year old car nearing 100K.
