Switching to EFI questions
I've decided to switch over from the CIS to a standalone managment system, after a lot of consideration I have decided that the megasquirt is my best option. However I have several question regarding the instalation :
1.When I install megasquirt do I remove the current ECU that controls the fueling (black box behind the battery), or does it have to stay in to control some other functions of the car? 2. How does megasquirt control ignition, can it be used with the current ignition system ? 3. How do I get my initial fuel and ignition maps? Is there some way that I can record them from the current setup and then input them into megasquirt as base maps ? 4. In order to install mqgasquirt I need the following : - new custom intake manifold - new custom injectors and fuel rail - new throttle body - other ?? 5. to what sensors do I tie in, TPS, Enginge temp. sensor (do I have to change it ? ), O2 sensor (can I use a wideband O2), others ??? Can anyone post a list of all the things I'll have to change when converting from the CIS to EFI (no matter if its TEC-3, SDS or other)?

I installed a SDS system on my 2.3-16. It is a fair amount of work just to get it running. After getting it tuned in, the engine starts and runs as smooth as the stock CIS but with full control when under boost or tuning on a dyno. The SDS is cheaper but is harder to tune than the TEC-3.
