2 vs 4 snow tires

Although 4 snow tires is recommended, what would be the effect of running just 2 snow tires on a 89 300e.

Likely a bad crash

I friend of mine once decided to ignore my advice that he buy 4 snow tires. He put 2 on the front of his Acura Coupe, then went out that night and totalled it. 80 miles on the car.

See, he was going around a curve, and given that his front tires were grabbing nicely (the snow tires) he figured he'd be fine. Then the rear lost traction, swung around, and the next thing he knew he was in a tree.

Buy 4...assuredly, the manufacturers recommend a full set for a reason.

ditto

My family has run Benz's through the winter here in Pennsylvania for 20 years. 4 Tires are just the way to go, no if ands or buts. Being able to move is just half of the equation-you also have to steer and stop!

I have also tried the Blizzac tires-they just have a super sticky sort of tread that grabs the ice. Interesting, but they wear down too quickly. On the other hand, they dont' have that HMMMMMMMMMMM sound that studs do. Might be better for your use in a more southernly state?

Be safe

Dan
