I have a 92 190E2.6 and the one major complaint as far as performance is the lack of low rpm power from a standstill. Under wide open throttle acceleration from full stop, the car revs to about 2000 rpm and pauses against the converter stall speed and then begins to accelerate well as the revs pass 2500rpm. The pause is not noticed below 3/4 throttle. I was wondering if there is a converter with a higher stall speed to overcome this pause at 2000rpm or if advancing my camshaft +4 deg would improve low rpm intake flow to overcome this problem.
Thanks, Rod.

This engine doesn't have much torque until the revs are above 3500. Changing the cam timing won't help much. How many miles on the car & has the head ever been off for valve work??

Sounds like the engine is running lean & possibly the exhaust isn't allowing the engine to breath well. How about a fresh air filter (K&N). have you had the engine hooked to an engine scope to test ignition system?

The filter is a K&N filter. Everything else is stock. This flat spot has been with the car since I got it at 26k miles. The CIS is set a little on the rich side via the screw adjustment for a EHA value of minus 3 to 5ma. I have a tool to check back pressure but have not tried that yet. Fuel pressure is 75 psi running and the vaccume is 15 inches at idle. This seems low to me as my V8 Jeep has 20 inches at idle. I have checked the secondary scope traces and all look ok except cyl #1 which is erratic which may explain my stumble at idle. Other than low speed acceleration, the car runs very strong. The flat spot only happens at a standstill with full throttle making me think that I am loosing intake velosity and cylinder filling until the revs pick up. Besides altering the engine temperature feedback to the control module, is there any good way to improve on the CIS system. Thanks.
Rod
