190e 2.3 to 2.3-16 conversion

Well, after exhausting the search program, I've yet to have my questions answered.

I currently have a 92 2.3 that I'm looking to get a little bit more perfromance out of. What would the best options be? If I didn't care about the air/con, how easily would it be to convert my 2.3 to the 16 valve version. I'm looking to spend between 1,000-1,500. Is that resonable for some small engine mods? I'd appreciate any help. Let me know what you've done to your 2.3s to get some more hp/tq

thanks.

Your budget won't cover the "conversion" since you need more than just the cylinder head. Quite roughly, you'll need to tear down the engine, replace the intake and exhaust manifolds, locate and install 16V pistons and con rods, install the 2.3-16 CIS computer and relays and all the attachments that go with it.

All M102 owners have contemplated this at one time or another. :)

Not to mention all of the machining of the block you will have to do because the blocks aren't the same.

You would really have to find an entire engine.

it would make more sense to buy a decent 2.3-16 than trying to convert. period.
