1993 W124 Springs

currently my 93 400e has 203,000 miles on it. I was wondering if the stock springs would ever wear out. It seems like lately they have really been sqeaking. Maybe they just need some oil, but do I ever need to replace these?

I have never heard of "oiling" springs. Theoretically they should last a lifetime, but it is not unheard of to have one "break". I tend to believe that with that mileage it may not hurt to replace, and gain back some of your ride characteristics. What kind of shape is the rest of the suspension in?

the suspension seems fine, its just whenever i get in i hear sqeaking from the springs. Its almost as if they are rusted or something, im not sure. If i do end up replacing them im definately going to go with H&R's. Im guessing they are less than the OEM springs anyways. Any ideas as to what the sqeaking is?

Squeaking can be coming from other sources, and without a thorough inspection,it is hard to say. If you are sqeaking while traveling up/down, ie: speed bump, it could be springs, and even shocks/struts. Also these vehicles have many bushings and links in the rear, which could "squeak". get it checked before throwing money at it. I have 145k on my 300E, and had the links, bushings checked, and all were good. I replaced swaybars fr/rr, and bushings, new HD Bilstein's, and next are the Eibach Springs.

Why dont you check your ball joints?

Springs are not supposed to wear out, but you know everything sags after a while..
