I recentlly had a set of eibach sway bar installed, and new alignment spec. ( as close as possible to the 500E.), and new set of SP 9000.
I experience drastical handling improvments ! The sway bar, and the alignment does make a differnets, or it could be the new tire, it was far better then the P7000 summer. Thanks for Lee's advises I notices that there this kit from Renntech for the rear suspension, is that any effective ? cost about 1400. How was the Conforti working on Mercedes project going ? Thank you for your time Pete regards |

Glad you like the new setup Peter. If cost is not an object then go for the Renntech. Otherwise there are usually better bang-for-the-buck options. I'd drive the car and enjoy it. If you notice any problems developing (like excessive wear on the rear tires from lowered camber) then address it as it comes.
I'm sorry I don't have anything new to report with Conforti. We have been busy getting PartsShop up and running and driving Benz at Richmond Intl Speedway. How do you like the Dunlop 9000's? Wet?/Dry?/Behavior at the limit?/Wear? Lee |

Dear Lee
I get satisfactions out from the SP 9000. The dry traction is some what above average, although it makes loud noises on coners about 45mphs on a sharpe 45 degree curve. While my friend with a set of new A520 didn't make a sound . Sort of embarrassing The handling is okay on big curves, I could able to feel the road, but when the car reach to about 85, there is a sign telling me that the tire is about to reach to its limit( on my car itself), and there is when the tire traction starting slip a little, but not a very big of an issue. The overall dry traction I said above average I think I have to say that while it is still new. The wet traction is above average. I took the car out on the freeway on a rainny night, and going about 75mph, don't feel any signs of hydroplane. Which was far better then the P7000 summer I use to have. Wet traction, I say is good The trend wear on the SP9000 is 280, I think it should last at least for a year and a half that is the reason why I choose SP9000. I say the over all score is about 7.5 out of ten. Which is like a C + to B-. Best regards Pete |

I have just replaced my SP9000 with Yokohoma AVS Sport on an Euro 84' 500SEL. The SP9000 was an improvement over the Michelin Pilot Z4, I replaced, in both wet and dry. But I had to replaced the SP9000 with the AVS because they were all out of round (less than 2000 miles). The AVS is much, much better than the SP9000 in every way (wet or dry) that they are not really comparable. I was able to go 85 MPH on heavy rain without any hint of hydroplaning. The SP would hydro at much lower speed. The AVS also made the car totally glued to the road at any speed.
I also have the A520 and the SP8000 on my Porsche and they are also far better than the SP9000. |
