Anyone know the details of the SLR engine? I understand that its the AMG 5.5 liter with supercharger that produces over 500 Hp and over 500 ft/lbs of torque.
Can anyone confirm? And, if it is how can I convert my E55 to the same specs? |

Jesse,
The last I heard of the SLR engine was pretty much as you describe. I have heard various power numbers kicked around, but that is just a matter of playing with boost pressure. I doubt the official SLR engine is a 113.980 E55 engine with a kompressor on top. Knowing MB, they probably reworked many minor things. The kompressor on top of the SLR is likely a cousin to the kompressor on the SLK. I know of a supercharger kit for the E55, it certainly wont be factory but if you really want overkill it should fit the bill. Superchargers aside, I'm pretty sure Brabus and the rest of the tuner crowd can fix you up with an engine conversion. If you are interested fill out a Brabus inquiry. When the SLR gets bit closer to production we should know more. Mosselman did the supercharger kit for the E55, but since they have been bought out I'm not sure if the kit still exists. I take it your "enjoying" the E55 to the fullest? Hope this helps...Lee |

Thanks,
I've talked to the people at brabus before so I know how much the 6.0 conversion costs. I was interested in the SC because I wouldn't have to touch the engine. And yes I'm enjoying it to the fullest! |
