Replace Stock Shocks or Upgrade/Lower?

Hey guys, I have a question for all of you.

My '94 E320 is in need of new shocks. I have been quoted an estimate of $825 to replace the stock shocks.

Here is my question. I have been thinking about lowering the car and upgrading to sport shocks for a while. Is it worth my time and money to upgrade to sport shocks, and replace the springs to lower the car a bit? And about how much might it cost to both replace the springs and shocks with sport equipment and lower the car? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Bilstein shocks = $ 450.00
Eibach springs = $ 275.00
Installation = $ 250.00
Alignment = $ 100.00.
Look & performance = priceless. ;)

While performance comes with a price, it will also come with more bumps and thumps on sport springs and shocks. The harshness is more discernable at lower speeds. Don't get me wrong, I have Eibachs and Bilstien Sports on my car and love the cornering and higher speed feel, but you have to be prepared to sacrifice the low speed smoothness of OEM/Comfort struts. shocks and spring rates.

I'm happy with mine :)

You can have the parts shipped to your installation facility, then have the alignment completed. TOTALLY 'wakes up' the car!

I highly recomend Bilstein HD's. They are a touch firmer than original equipment, but these w124'S are quite soft if you ask me. Many people have written about them, and love them. You will not be dissapointed. It will freshen up your car, and will handle much more like a German Sedan.

Read this post below, it highlights some good concerns and results that i had with choosing a strut, and installation.

Good luck.
