I am considering purchasing a 93 400e and was wondering if the top speed is electronically limited? If so, can this be defeated???Thanks,Dan

I read it was limited to 155mph.

The 400E falls into the category of being governed to 155 mph.

Starting sometime in the late '80s/early '90s all German production cars capable of speeds in excess of 155 mph were electronically limited to 155 mph. I'm sure that in Europe you would be able to persuade the factory to remove the limits but that is not the case in north america.

If you were to take the car to RennTech, however, they could remove the limits....for a price.

to my knowledge porsche does NOT limit their cars.

You are correct, Porsche was the only German automaker that did not limit their cars.

As of now, I believe Audi has decided to do away with the limit as well.

You can change the chip in the vehicle. That will remove the top end.
