One Lap of America results
Well, local CT racer Mark Da Via wins it (finally)...congrats to him and that sweet 996TT he gets to pilot. CT folks know him as the usual 'fastest time of the day' guy at the CART and PCA events...the guy we love to hate !!
Several Benzes made the trek but what happened to Toby and Michael ? Many of us are wondering what happened to them. Anyone know? |

YES, I do
After all the work to prepare for the OneLap which included all the large and minor additions, conversions and adaptations, we did not start the event.
Work done was like adding a small fuel cell with a manual control valve to select transit stage(gas tank) or fuel cell with 108/110 octane race fuel, or used as emergency fuel on the hiway. Adding three 12V outlets for all the electrical doo-dads needed and recharging of some. Adding flares to cover the 255/45-17 front and 285/40-17 rear tires needed for the required street tires. Changing the rear diff gear from a 4.10 back to a 3.55 and changing fifth gear in the tranny from a .8 to a .63 for better mileage in the transit stages. There were many more to add but that is the tip of the iceberg. All this done by me while Michael spent his time hunting down pledges, collections, offerings and begging for support for our cause to raise money for our chosen charity and products to help us do better. Our chosen charity was gung-ho in the beginning but fell short of their word when time became close to the start. They would have made money but apparantly chose to back out on us for some unknown reason. They were to pay for the entry fee, patches and decals but decided they didn't want to do so. They were to be the ongoing charity to receive money in future years from OneLap,LLC which in the past has raised over $1mil for the Ronald McDonald house. Go figure? We also had a large $$ sponsor drop out as they were planning on using the funds from a business expansion loan which developed problems and they had to tighten their budget. Michael and I were looking forward to the OneLap and thought we could do well since he ran last year and has the experience in long drives during the night...a real Lap Dog! But it didn't happen as planned for 6 months....but it will go on again next year and beyond. This in short is why we don't have any results to share with you. TobiasMB 190/5.6 |

That's a shame... a real bummer. Thought maybe one of yous fell asleep overnite and ended up in a corn-field somewhere. Hey, at least you got a couple hundred points.
Better luck next year then. |

Not our points!!
They belong to Michael Sokalsky in his 190-2.5/16V as he had transmission trouble and rented a Mercury Mountaineer to continue. He earned points and since the car was incorrect the officials gave him our number to satisfy the computer....typical garbage in/garbage out!
But still not our earned points as we never started the event. TobiasMB 190/5.8 PS...GOOD eyes! Thanks for following |
