value of a 76 450 SL

Well I "lucked" into a 760 450 SL and I'm trying to decide what to do with it. Part of that decision is based on what it could be sold for in the end. It is a 76 so it has the cats in the engine bay but I don't see any visible signs of heat damage and I've got enough MB contacts that I could probably come up with an early exhaust for it.

The car is pretty beat up. needs some rust repair and a full paint job plus who knows what all else. As near as I can tell it is a one owner car with app 160K on the clock. Hasn't been titled in four years and sat outside for the past year with a leaking windshield.
Givin this I figured I would just move it right back out the door but you can tell it has never been hit and the interior is in very respectable condition so I figured I'd better at least try and start it. It would be neat to have a convertable in the family right? wouldn't you know it but the damn thing started right up. So I took it for a ride and the engine is smooth and the trans shifts perfectly, although a bit below redline.

So now what to do? I can do all the work myself but finding the time is the real problem. I'd also much rather have an older 250 sl than this beast BUT since this one came along and it IS very nice to drive...and was free...

So what I'm thinking is to come up with a reasonable cap for how much money I can realisticly put into it and get it back out after driving it for a couple of years. Not counting my labor of course. If I'm going include my labor I might as well sell it tommorrow. If I had extra cash this thing would be gone in a second for that fantastic euro 280 with the 5 speed. I will add that I am very used to putting old MB's back on the road. I've been driving 108 cars since high school, but I need some objective opinion as the idea of having any MB SL is very tempting.
