Question 1984 380SL door locks

The passenger side door lock no longer activates when the driver side door is locked. This is a vacuum controlled lock system (ugh!!!), and I am assuming there is a problem with the vacuum element in the right (passenger side) door or in a vacuum line leading to that element. I am also assuming I need to remove the interior door panel to get to the vacuum element; however, I can't find any sort of repair manual that covers this topic.

Any suggestions on how to proceed or which repair manual may cover this topic before I go on a wild goose chase troubleshooting the problem?

Hope you get an answer. My 83 280SL is starting to do the same thing, intermittently. Did yours start out that way and then fail completly? I've also noticed I now have to start the car to unlock the trunk, which I assume is because pressure is being returned(removed?) from the vacuum line. It be nice to find a source on how to trouble shoot these systems and get an understanding of how they work.

Re: Vacuum repair

I can't find his web site, but give him a call. He has repair kits for the vacuum acutators and a bunch of other hard to find stuff.
