Electrical Encounter

just bought a 1992 sl500 with 62k on the odometer, everything was smooth, then suddenly almost all the warning lights went crazy, as well as the gauges, and the battery died on me. It was diagnosed as an alternator problem, I am dreading having any work done on that...any similar encounters, appreciate any advice.

Not on my SL, but I did replace the alternator on my W124.

Other than the cost of the unit (everything is high $$$ on the SL), I don't see that as much of an issue. Things are pretty tight with the V8 in that compartment and that may add some labor costs.

Thank you for putting my mind to rest, I will have the alternator changed next week, and will post a picture once done, thanks again.
