450 SL Trunk Problem

My SL has been in storage so that the battery is dead and as such I am unable to open the trunk/boot where the battery is located due to the air pressure system. I know that there is a technique using the key in the trunk lock to override the air pressure connection. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Jump start the car from the engine compartment. There is a Postive terminal (passenger side, mid-way back on mine).
