Tire Chains on 107

Has anyone put tire chains on their SL for snow/ice traction and if so, what were the results?

I would not put standard chains on my 107 mostly because of clearance. I would however use "cable chains" which are essentially aircraft wire with metal beads strung over the cross cables.

Very effective and can be used in low clearance applications at highway speeds. Last I checked JC Whitney had the best prices.

Thanks....two nights ago I got to watch my SL slide about 50 feet down a hill towards an intersection after I got out of the car and locked the passenger door. I managed to grab the door handle and slow it down a bit until it wedged against the curb.

I would never drive my SL in winter conditions! Too much at stake for an accident or salt damage.

SL in snow maybe but not mine!

if i was to use my 72 in those conditions i would only run studded snow tires if my state allowed their use. you get a decent amount of traction and when the road permits you can run freeway speeds and you don't have to get on your knees to hook em up.

but you'd have to hold a gun to my head for my 72 to come out of the garage in any weather lower than 70 degrees and no clouds.

It has to be the world's worst snow car but i got caught at work with it and there was little choice. I am sure I was quite a sight, being dragged down hill by my 560SL.
