560SL leaking tranny
I have not seen this car yet so.... a friend now has a big puddle of ATF under the center of her 560SL. What would cause a massive dump like that? I would expect a leaking gasket to just drip. I am guessing an impact (hole) but she said she did not run over anything. Anything on an SL that is known to give way?
thanks Fred

I can tell you from experience that if the o-ring that seals the dipstick tube to the trans body fails, like if it comes loose from the cylinder head, you can get a lot of fluid on the floor in a hurry.
Also - try a search. Several posts on sudden fluid loss.
