560SL Wind Screen. Who has one? Are they worth the money?
Why are these things so expensive? Do you have one and if so does it really work?
Would you buy it again and do you think it is reasonably priced?

Tom...I had a windscreen in 1997-98 for a former SL.I sold the car and eventually the windscreen. They make a difference above 50-60 but you still need to raise the windows. On my current SL...I don't seem to get on the Interstate enough to warrant it.Not only are they a little expensive, but you can't park the car without worrying somebody will steal it(very easy)or poking a hole in it.
Bottom line...if you drive on Interstates a lot,you will like it.If not,it is too vulnerable. Best Regards,ch7ckc |

I like mine. I don't drive much on interstates but if you drive at or over 55 it will help keep the wind from blowing off your cap or muss your wife's hair. They seem to have really increased in price recently. 2 years agao I saw them for $250 but now the same company (Performance Products) is asking $400 plus. Check the auction boards. It really is a good addition to your SL.

I've got one on my 560SL; I definitely like having it. Above 55 or so, it's nice to reduce the buffeting; the freeway with the top down is a lot more pleasant, I can reach back and flip it up or down while underway with no problem. I don't need the windows up to reduce the buffet to a mild level, but when I do put them up it's about like having a large open sunroof--comfortable down to pretty cool temps. I've had no concerns about theft or damage; in fact, it's kind of a privacy screen for the backage shelf. Mine was about $250 a couple of years back; at $400, I'd have to think longer.

Tom,if you really want one...try Fletcher Jones,MB dealer,Newport Beach CA,at 1 800 328 3095.I bought mine there for $275.00 but that was 8 years ago and I'm sure it is a bit more now. They were the cheapest I could find.

560 Windscreen
I have one for my 1993 500 SL, and love it on the highway! For day-to-day driving, I leave it in the trunk! I think it does detract from the appearance of the car when it's either up or down, so I don't leave it on in the city.
