what's it worth??

1989 560 SL - about 80K- no rust-hard top-etc. We saw it on a small car lot but it wasn't priced. If someone can tell me what is a fair price, I can deduct for anything I find wrong. KBB didn't go back to 89. Was this a "good" year for SL's? Thanks, Jay

Talking What' it worth

Jay,

Last November I purchased a 1989 560SL with 89k for $16k. This was at an MB dealer. He was asking $17900. I offered $16k and requested that he do the 90k mile service. After about an hour of haggling he came around to my offer. Maybe it was due to the time of the year. This was a one owner car with good service history. An elderly couple traded it for a new SLK. I actually met the previous owers after I purchased the car. They sold me the hard top cart and electric hoist for $150. I took the car to my indy mechanic a he thinks I have a good car. I'm not sure if this was a good deal or not but it was good to me!

The dealer is asking 19,995. I'm sure that there is play in that price, but it will still be out of my price range. Thanks for the input, Jay
