New Gear Shift Knob - duh - Burlwood
I just put a new knob on my 560SL. Being cheap, I found a Grant knob that goes for $32 from Jegs. http://www.grantproducts.com
I cut the old knob off with a box cutter. The shift lever looks like a "T" with the old knob removed. Cut the "T" off with a dremel tool. The new knob comes with three cylindrical inserts of differing I.D.s I put on the appropriate insert, pushed the knob over the insert and tightened it down with three allen head set screws. The kit comes with the set screws and an allen wrench. Lastly, there is a collar that screws to the bottom of the knob that hides the allen screws. I'm happy! I bought one of the "Signature" steering wheels, but they haven't shipped it yet. |
Sounds interesting. I might want to follow suit. I went to the Grant site but did not see the zebrano knob you mentioned. Do you have the number of the knob? Have always wanted to change mine but did not want to spend 80 bucks for one.

At Grants, click the shift knob icon and then scroll down past the seats display.
the knobs are at the bottom. |
Exactly what I did but no Zebrano. Did you by any chance buy the mahogany?

Wishful thinking....Burlwood....my bad!
Well.......open mouth, insert foot. :(
Believe about 10% of what I write. |
Like the Toby Keith song, "I'm not as good as I once was but I am as good once as I ever was."
