Strange (?) Muffler Rust Areas

My muffler looks OK at first glance (considering its 19 years), but I noticed that both rear exhaust pipes are rusted-one rusted in a line at the top, and the other at about 3:00, as though cut with a laser beam. Weird! This is probably not good to drive around with (exhaust doesn't exit behind the care entirely anymore). Can I assume that the rest of it is probably about to go? Any experience with BOSAL mufflers? I will need new seals and hangers - are there any other parts surprises while doing this?

I put a Bosal on last year. Dont be fooled by the lifetime warent. You have to pay an additional fee for the warrenty. I belive it was $25.00. My muffler was completly coroded arround the end faces leaving the can loose on the pipes. I thought the car would definately be quieter but I hardly noticed the difference when it was installed. It seames the cat and forward muffler really do all the work. The rusted lines you speak of are from the welding process. It has a tendancy of messing up the material proporties. This becomes the week point and is where the tubes will fail first.
