Heat in driver's footwell area
Hi all. I know this is not normal but would like to check here first. My A/C is currently inop due to low freon charge so no cooling in the cabin. What worse, the driver's foot area becomes very warm during driving. The climate control system is off and no heat should be going into the cabin but there is. It seems that the entire transmission tunnel is warm to the touch. Is this normal? Anyone have any experiences in this area and found a fix? Thanks!

same here
I have the same problem. I was wondering where that heat was coming from too. If you have the heater off it would seem the hot water heater hose would not be transferring hot water through the cabin.
Anyone? Last edited by Mal; 06-23-2005 at 02:34 PM. |

Hi Guys,
I have a 1984 (Euro) 280sl with what may be the same or similar problem. On mine, the problem is a worn out heater control valve. Have your mechanic or knowledgable MB gear head take a look... Hope this helps! Carrie

96 SL500 and I have the same problem primarily when I drive the car long distance or drive it hard. I thought it was just the tranny heating up.
