Unhappy More comfortable Seat?

I am curious to know if anyone has any issues with the comfort of the SL seat. Not to sound spoiled, I do realize that the SL is not a luxuary sedan, but I feel that after spending close to 100K, your butt should not feel sore after driving a while.

I took off the bottom cushion and noticed large springs beneath the leather.
I'm thinking of taking the seat cushion to an upholstery shop and having them replace the springs with "Memory Foam."

I've appreciated memory foam since such a pillow was introduced to me a few years ago, and I eventually replaced my regular mattress with a memory foam bed.

If you've never slept on memory foam, I encourage you to check out the bed and pillow(s) at your local Brookstone store. Both cushion your body for a very compfortable night's sleep.

Now about those seats...?!

Well,
I am 35 and I am feeling the pain of my SL seats. I am going to do the same and remove them to add cushions. Also being 6'4" I can't get the seat right, if you put the backrest back it moves the seat forward, there is like 2 inches between the rear of the seat and the cabinet, If I could only get that 2 inches things would be more comfortable. I had an S class, when I bought the SL and drove it home I asked myself, "Why?" So 2 years later my back is killing me and I am considering the purchase of another Sedan, keeping the SL of course for when I feel I can take the abuse, ha ha.. It is a luxury convertible, and rides really well, but I think my seats are worn out.

Seats ,

My 500SL 1982 seats did not give a comfort ride until I took the car to regular car seat / upholstory guy and requested he modify my seats .

I requested good extra lumbar support , reduced angle of seat e.g flatter , and more soft support for my rump on the seat .

The seats are black leather .

The end result was a fantastic comfort seat for long hauls on the highway ,I can now drive all day with no problem .

This same guy does work on new Camry seats as requested, as these are also not right for many buyers .

The cost is dirt cheap for this kind of repair .

Don't think about it, do it .

What ever the repair will do, will improve it, not ruin it .
