1992 SL roll bar keeps poping up

Is there any way to deactavate the complete roll bay system. I have a damaged rear axle switch. Roll bar pops up at anytime.

Why not just "live" with the roll bar up until you can replace the bad switch? Speaking for myself, I'd rather not be driving without some rollover protection. I say that because I was once T-boned at an intersection by a person who ran the red light. I was hit so hard that my Jeep flipped over onto the roof. I never saw her coming. If I had been flipped in the SL without a working rollover bar, I'd probably be dead. Enough said.

In the storage area behind the passenger seat is a connector for the axle switches. If you seperate one of the connectors and insert a paper clip or other suitable jumper you can bypass the axle switches and keep your roll bar from automatically deploying. Email me for pictures.

Bobterry,
I have noticed the switches on the lower control arms for roll bar deployment on SL's of 95 or earlier vintage. On a 1996 or newer however I do not see any switches. How is this activated? I am just curious. Thanks!
Brian

Hi Brian. '96 and later cars have a "tilting cone" sensor inside the soft top controller to detect roll over instead of axle switches.
