Fuel leak on 350 slc

Hi All,

Re: My 1973 350 slc

I have a problem with the short feed lines from the fuel rail into the actual injectors. These pipes are
little more than an inch long and have hydraulic style steel connectors at the injector end. Problem is some of them seem to be leaking. I can't find any listing for them on the online parts outlets that I use. Anyone know if I can replace these items with ordinary fuel lines, and any tips or tricks involved.

Also there is a bit of a clunk on bumpy roads, seemingly from the area of the transmission tunnel. I
have replaced sub-frame mounts etc. Does this mean that there is a problem with the engine/gearbox
mounts ? Any adjustments feasible.

Thanks

Gerry

Surprised you could not find a source for these:

http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/mercedesshop/sophio/wizard.jsp?partner=mercedesshop&clientid=catalog.mercedesshop&baseurl=http://catalog.peachparts.com/&cookieid=1HL141MPS1M20Q9FPN&year=1973&make=MB&model=450-SLC-001&category=C&part=Injector+Hose+Repair+Kit&appEngines=_any

I recently had my injectors repaired using these kits.

You might want to examine the center joint of the drive line for the noise. They are known to fail. Check the flex-joints at the same time.

Advice from 230/8

Thanks 230/8. I tried your link. Seems to be standard fuel line, cut to length
with suitable hose clips. I'll try that method. The link by the way, seems to be stateside, whereas I'm in Ireland. Too complex for getting parts in a hurry.

I'll check the drivetrain for wear, though on previous visits to the ramp didn't
notice anything amiss.

I've a feeling that it's engine/gearbox mounts, as I've also got a couple of 190s
(w201 series). One of them had a similar slight 'thunk' on bumps, so I replaced,
at great cost, front shocks, tyres, all front bushings etc. Months later turned out to be engine mounts.

Thanks for your advice and input

Gerry
