Wiper Module - OUCH!

I just got my car out of the shop after three days of searching for the culpret that made my intermitent wiper position inop. In the end, it was a THIRD relay module, which I didn't even know existed until today. The module, PN 129 820 10 26, cost me $450 USD!!!!

I don't believe you can not get that module at a much more reasonable price. Anyone out there have a comment?

My plan of action now would be to check the slip rings and clean/regrease if required, then onto the N10/2 wiper control unit in your fuse box. It's got to be one of the three, N10/2 (wiper control) or K26 (wiper relay) or wiper slip rings.
I'm fairly confident I can repair either the K26 or the N10/2.....maybe next time BTW, PN 129 820 10 26 is the N10/2 combination unit and is used in models R129 058,060,061,063,066,067 and 076

For upto '95

K26 relay module PN 0015427919 is also used in all those mentioned above, so it had to be one of these three components in the end eh!

Symptoms of K26 failure are typically failure of the wiper to correctly park and when running on intermittant position, failure to return to the parked position.

Symptoms of N10/2 module failure therefore seem to point to total loss of wiper action in the intermittant position - great work Mike.

I wonder if anyone has any info on symptoms of slip ring failure?

Lea

Thanks, Lea. I need to remember to utilize the capabilities of my fellow ShopForum members like you and Ray (Carson356). I should have told the guy, thanks for the diagnosis. I will take care of the module replacement myself.

P.S. I looked for an icon showing the little face throwing money into a burning pile, but couldn't find one!!!
