95 SL320 Multiple electrical problems after minor accident.

My girlfriend's SL320 was involved in a minor accident in which the front bumper and grille were slightly damaged. The bodywork was repaired successfully but the insurance company would not pay for the convenience relay or the soft top control module which the dealership said needed replaced as they insisted the items were not damaged due to the accident. The car was operating perfectly before the accident and I cannot understand why they are taking this stand.
The electrical problems are as follows,
1.The left and right flashers do not work but the 4-way warning flasher does.
2.The windows will not operate using the switches but do if the doors are locked and unlocked using the key.
3. When the car is started up there is a warning beeper sounding along with what sounds like an electric motor running for a few seconds from the passenger side of the cabin.
4.The seat belt warning light stays on all the time even when both belts are buckled.
The car has the hard top on just now. I may remove it to test the soft top operation before I buy a new module. The fuses in the trunk are all OK.
She just wants her car running normally again and I can make the necessary repairs. I have found a good source for the soft top control module but I do not want to buy it until I replace the convenience relay. Anyone out there have a good source where I can buy this relay? The dealer wants $377 for this part.
Thanks,
Colin

Whoaa - does the dealership say the modules were not wrecked in the accident, or the insurance company?

If you can honestly say all was well before the accident - sue the insurance company! You paid them to insure against damages of an accident, now they have to pay! I hope you did not sign any releases with them. In either case, consult a lwayer specializing in this type of scam.

Yes.
It is fairly simple. I did this about 2 to 3 months ago. Search the SL forum for my user name. I started the thread asking about my battery dying and causing all kinds of problems.

I spoke to her today. A member of her family has put her in touch with a commission here in Georgia who investigates insurance companies regarding matters like this. The fellow I spoke to wants me to write a report stating that the car was operating normally before the accident and list the faults I found to substantiate what the dealership diagnosed.
I wonder if any other SL owners have had similar experiences? I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has.
Thanks,
Colin
