Is this the right door for a 450SL?
My 70s 450SL sufferred some passenger door damage. I got ahold of a clean passenger door I was told was from a 78 450SL.
It has something that looks suspiciously like a manual hand crank bit that has me confused. My 450SL has power windows. Can anyone please take a look at the attached fotos and let me know what it is? The piece I'm wondering about is the short post sticking out of the door approx in the middle of the foto. Thanks! |

That does indeed look like a manual crank. My 72 does not have power windows. I don't think there is a difference in the doors though. Unless your window mechanism is damaged it should bolt in. Where did you get your door? I'm looking for a strait, rust free passenger door as well.

Thanks for the answer. 1 Followup!
Are you sure that the body shop can just take the door, dismount the manual hardware and switch over the power stuff from my damaged door? I got the door from a local guy that was clearing out odds and ends. Thanks! |

All the manual guts unbolted from my door. I didn't have to cut anything to get it out. If it were new door from MB it would come as an empty shell. They would have to transfer everything from your old door. If I am wrong, send me an email, at least you'll have a buyer.
