Stick Shift Replacement 500SL

Folks,

I am seeking some assistance with some step by step procedure to replace the stick shift on my 500SL Euro 1982 ( Auto Trans ) as I have just a purchased a new burl wood replacement due the plastic original being a little worse for wear .

I suppose its simple , however I need a starting point.

Appreciate your help.
