Interior light cover removal

1990SL 300 this light cover is located in the roof behind the front windshield. It has two interior lights and several on and off switches.

The previous owner dyed this cover; it looks dreadful. I am clueless on how to remove this cover.

I have spent a half of day on it pulling and tugging. I probably have damaged this unit already, but I still must remove it. Does anyone have any ideals?

Lastly, are there any sources to purchase this cover. Or, is anyone selling this cover, thanks.

Lightbulb Picture please

A picture please.
My concern is that you may need a new/good used one.
Very sad that interior panels are easy to wreck through improper painting.

Remove the mirror first. Then the rest should become apparent.

OK, thanks for the guidance, the cover is off.

Also, thanks for the help on attachments.

Now, I must locate a new or use light cover, any advice? I have seen some nice burl wooden covers too.

I called around; prices seemed excessive. Therefore, I contacted Potomac Germany Motor salvage located in Florida and Maryland. They had a used light cover same color.

I received the light from Potomac in only three days. It’s in good condition, and it costs 50 to 60% less than any other cover I saw on the market.

All is well on this issue.

Mirror out, can't finish

Thanks for the info on removing the mirror. I found the rest of the screws holding in the lamp and switch housing. Now I have the mirror out and the Lamp and switch housing with the plastic cover still attached, dangling on the switch and miirror wiring.

I can't find the way to remove the outer plastic cover (which needs repainting), or release the wires from the two switches, the mirror connector and one other cable which goes into that housing.

I will sure appreciate any help on freeing that plastic cover.

Very old post, but I didn't see any mention of the two screws under the map light lenses.
(for future reference)
Be careful prying them off, there is one screw mounted under each map light lens. On each lens (on left and right side center) there is a plastic tab that wedges and holds it in place. Pop those out with a very small flat head screw driver then you'll see the screw underneath that holds the whole plastic overhead housing.
