Keeping the sun from damaging my baby

Hi everyone. I wanted to know if anyone knew of a UV protector to use on the windows of my soft top on my 1986 560sl? I did a search and saw products to help clean the windows from looking hazy but is there such a product or does the same product help from the sun?

Thank you very much.

Marla

The product name is 303 Protectant. This product is absolutely the best UV blocker in my opinion. It can be used on almost everything but is the best for plastic, vinyl, leather, rubber, gelcoat etc.

You can get it at West Marine, but they're backordered right now...

Balsa and Page62

I went by West Marine for the 303 Protectant (Aerospace protectant). Is this the correct stuff. The guy there did not think this was something I should use for protecting from the UV rays on the plastic. Does he just not know?

Thank you again.

...and what does the guy think you SHOULD be doing with the stuff?

From the 303 website (303products.com):

303 is THE LEADER in UV screening technology. 303 Aerospace Protectant really is like "SPF 40 Sunscreen ... For Your Stuff." Regular use gives 100% Prevention of UV caused slow-fade with regular use. No other "protectant" beautifies as intensely, protects as powerfully or lasts as long.

The World's Most Manufacturer-Recommended Product:
Because of its enduring cosmetic properties, the resistance of 303-treated surfaces to dust, soiling, and staining, its water repellency and unparalleled protective characteristics, manufacturers worldwide recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant.

And here's what the bottle looks like:

What do you use it on?

Is this something you would spray on your dashboard for instance , or just on windows?

Thanks for mentioning it. I think I'll check it out, too.

I found 303 at the local Ace Hardware. About $12/bottle as I recall. If yours does not have it, look in their catalog; it was listed, and when we ransacked the store we found it misplaced in another section. If you cannot locate it in your store, they should be able to order it for you.

You should also try Meguiars PlastX plastic cleaner and polish.

Below is information from: www.meguiars.com

This easy-to-use, rich gel formula quickly restores optical clarity to both rigid and flexible clear plastics. Cutting-edge advancements in Meguiar’s exclusive Microscopic Diminishing Abrasive Technology (MDAT) remove light oxidation, chemical degradation, surface contamination, stains and light surface scratches with ease. Special highly water resistant polymers provide long lasting durable protection to keep your clear plastics clear and beautiful longer. We recommend applying PlastX with a High Tech Applicator Pad or Ultra Plush Super Terry and using an Ultra Plush Super Terry or Supreme Shine Microfiber for the final wipe-off.

G12310 ..........10 oz. (296 ml) $5.49

I went to a clinic at Meguiar's world headquarters in Irvine, California, and this product was demonstrated on a plastic motorcycle windshield / wind deflector. It was hazy to the point that you couldn't see through it. PlastX just about completely removed the hazing and made it almost completely clear.

Thank you Suginami

Thank you so much for your suggestion and I will check that out as well. I just called Meguires to see if there was a UV protector in the PlastX and they informed me there is. This Texas heat is just not helping my baby. Thank you again and hope you are doing well.
