thanks to CTAYLOR and CARSON

Just to say thanks for resolving my post 380 sl will not come of choke

i think its just as important to say if a problem is resolved as it is to ask questions

Did as you guys said, took out idle air valve, your suggested searches help me find the little blighter

First cleaned with carb cleaning spray (amazed how dirty it was ) then left it to soak in wd40 for 4 hours, re installed took for a run. Even though it did high idle about 3 times in each case it went back to normal very quickly

Have left it to soak overnight just to help it a bit more

Even though it might not be a permanant fix (will buy another and keep as a spare) its just great to know that this was the actual problem
