What's the best color for an SL?

I've noticed there seem to be a fairly limited range of colors in SL's I see in my area. What do you think looks the best?

What's the rarest color SL you've seen?

Black. Black.

Thats my personal opinion.

I also like Red, Silver, White, Blue, Green, Brown, Purple, Cameleon... They all look good, regardless of th color.

Silver!

Dee8go 08-17-2006 10:56 PM

Your dad?

Is that your dad in that SL600, Justin? That is nice. I, like Henry Ford, am a big fan of black cars in general. I do see a lot of silver ones, though.

Black, no doubt about it!

I pose this question to all...

Have you ever seen an SL that looks bad?

No, because they all look GREAT!

I wasn't entirely enthused about my color combo when I bought it (wanted silver/gray with red interior, got white with red interior) but it's really grown on me. White is very forgiving to paint and body imprefections, and it's very, very easy to find dirt!

Quite a few are horrendous - usually the ones with aftermarket bodykits and silly wheels! Rarest colour I've seen was a yellow SL60.

Black / Black is my favourite - though dirt and water marks show up easily. My previous R129 was Obsidian black with black leather - the Silver Arrow only came in one colour ;).

They're all great!

On the R230 it has to be Cubanite over black.

On the R129, black on black looks great, as does black on tan, silver on black, white (on just about anything), pearl grey, bornite, malachite/tourmaline green; I really like the zircon green car in the brochures for the late model.

In my view the 107 really suits darker and richer colours. That said, I think it looks great in beige and dark beige, and some of the 70s colours look really good, too, especially sage and avacado green, the orange colour (?), and the pale blue colour whose name escapes me.

I'm a fan of the classic signal red with palomino interior...the sales brochure I have from 1988 shows this exact color combination on the cover.

What color?

V12, what color is that? It looks sort of like lavender, but it's hard to tell.

I agree, Justin. They all look good. I like yellow, though. I don't recall seeing one in my neck of the woods that was yellow.

481 Bornite, known as blackberry in the US.

Those colors don't seem to work as well in Texas -- in fact, I was about to make fun of poor old beige.

I've actually seen a pale blue 450SL around here. We've got so many different 107's rolling around this town that I see a different one -- and a different color -- almost every day.

One of the nicest SL's I've ever seen was a 350SL painted British Racing Green. Saw it just the other day -- it had the top down and the car looked drop-dead gorgeous!!!

There you go...I didn't even know that.
Thank You
