Car Stalled

A couple of months ago i was traveling down interstate and my 95 sl500 engine(50,000 miles) stopped. After almost getting hit, i pulled over. After about 15 minutes car started fine and i made it home. my mechanic said he thought it might be the mass air flow sensor. i decided to wait since it was running fine. last week it stopped and would not start. i had it towed in and mechanic diagnosed it as crank position sensor and saw no other problems and i had it fixed. could the CPS have caused my original problem?

Crank Sensor

Yes this could have been the cause of the original problem, although I have never had one be intermittant. When it stopped the second time, was the symptom the same when it died?

It could be this, but I had a similar problem in a Datsun 200SX several years ago. It turned out to be an intermittent fuel pump.

You may want to file this knowledge for future reference...

Yes, your situation was the classic example of a bad CPS.
