CIS mixture adjustment screw springs up
If I get a 3mm hex screw and press down on the adjustment screw, it goes down as if it is spring loaded. Does this mean the screw is off thread and I need to press down and turn clockwise to get it in thread?

I think it's okay. If you look at this procedure, it says you need to press the adjusting device against the spring for in order to make the adjustment...

As shown above, you will need to press down to engage the screw into the adjuster. Both clockwise and counterclockwise. There is no threading the hex screw into the adjuster. Just press and turn

Perfect! Thanks page62 and kbannister!
So, does this screw control mixture JUST for idle, and not WOT like I have been reading? Would this also affect idle speed as the mixture is adjusted? What I am saying is what should I expect when mixture is correctly adjusted? I do not have vacuum leakage, however I have reason to suspect I am running a bit lean, resulting in a slightly lumpy idle. Even though my car does not have lambda installed, it does have a O2 sensor, which is disconnected but there for smog test inspection. Would a DMM still work with a single-lead O2 sensor to get the readings I am supposed to see (0.5 - 1.0)? Thaks in advance! |
