It isn't chrome, it's a polished piece of stainless steel. It is possible to refinish it and de-dent it (I've done several, it's time consuming and requires a bench buffer to do a good job). I did them because the original MB parts are over $250 each end, and the alternative supplier (about $100 less at last report) apparently had a tool break and didn't make any for several months (Tasker?). Anyway, they made more, and are slowly filling orders. I don't know if Fastlane will have them. If not, try performance products or Adsitco. Be aware that shipping charges are really bad on this due to size.
It isn't difficult to replace (you do need to diassemble the bumper) but I caution you to be very careful when installing (stainless = much softer than chrome) and bending the tabs of the new piece over. Use a cloth and a piece of wood to spread out the force; the metal is surprisingly thin and will bend easily. Hmmm..not too far from me...If you get a new one can I have your old one?
