129 console glove box stuck

Hi Everyone..

I have a 1998 sl500 and the console glove box is stuck closed.
I tried forcing it open unsuccessfully.
I appreciate any advice in opening it.

You might try inserting key in the lock next to the dash compartment and unlocking it. It is the master for a lockable compartments including the trunk.

most likely the cable adjustment is too loose. best way to open is to push the button with back of a screwdriver and tap it lightly with a hammer, it should pop open. when you get it open, remove the box (only couple screws) and you should be able to titen the cable by spinning the white dial. good luck

Thanks for the help,
I played with the key while pushing in the button and it finally opened.
Paper was jammed in the slot that the button pushes into.
I removed the paper and lubricated everything.
