You can hook the turnsignal to the end reflector but you have to use a dual
filiament socket and bulb
Thats exactly what I did when I put my Euros in. Worked great, easy wire in & looks very cool at night

I just installed a set of Bosch NOS headlights with city lights. I looked at the euro wiring codes for both the w123 and w126 and then went from there to determine the correct wiring path. It didnt hurt that I wrench a bit. Lights worked great the first time on both sides. One turn on the light switch turns on the city lights, the pull is still the fogs, the turn signals are the corners now- which I really like as those on the side of me can see I'm turning; and low/high beams works great. The lower old turn signals do nothing now. Was really quite easy, but then this is my fourth set of euros on my third chassis.

Awesome! That's exactly what I want to set up for our SL.

Do you mind my asking from where you obtained the parts?

I've installed the "spare" Euros that I had rebuilt (see my old posts) from a fairly junky set into my 380SL; I yanked out the single-filament sockets for the side markers, put dual filament sockets in (very nasty to fit, don't even ask, but I did it). I have the city lights set up as daytime running lights and both side and bottom turn signals work - although this does add a little bit of load to the turn signal relay.

On my 560, I did this a little differently; I kept the single filament bulb but run that through a series of 3 amp diodes to drop the voltage about three volts, dimming it; running the turn signal power (through one 3 amp diode) runs that bulb at almost full brightness. The 560 also has the city lights as DRL's.

So far, my "polished aluminum tape" restoration of the reflectors on the 380 is holding up well. The pattern is virtually identical to the 560SL's silvered reflectors. However, I didn't put in the "I am a teenager - arrest me now" blue tint bulbs in the 380SL, so it's hard to compare brightness, but both are better than stock and more than adequate.

Thumbs up Rebuilding Bulb - In Headlamps

Sounds good ! I've rebuilt several headlamps on other brands by having the reflectors chromed , sounds cheesy but it really works out well _if_ you use all the water & vapor seal rubber bits .

The 1980 r107 I am working on has the euro (single) headlamps already. Does anyone have success in updating the bulbs, without modifying the wiring? Or updating the bulbs and modifying the wiring!
