A Cheby 350. The engineering isn't described in detail but the owner drove it 1000 miles and didn't kill themselves or have the engine and tranny fall out. I wonder how the steering was done. This car will upset purists but you can't argue with the dependability and low maintenance costs - you can generally fix that engine with a $0.59 screwdriver. A clue to how the transmission tunnel was widened might be in the cracked console description.

The engine dress-up stuff, I would have done before selling it.

Wonder if it gets better or worse gas mileage than original. In the carburator days, it was possible to get 20+MPG with the right cam and rear end with that approximate set up in a second generation Camaro if you didn't put your foot in it.

That appears to be a GM Goodwrench LM1 engine. Formerly called the "Target Master" motor. About 250 hp (SAE gross). Available for about $1300 at your local Chevy dealer. :rolleyes:

It's your basic Chevy 350 station wagon motor. Nothing fancy. If it was me, I would've spent the extra $$$ to install a ZZ4 engine -- about 100hp more!

I'd rather have my trusty old Mercedes 4.5L OHC engine.

Its unlikely this is faster than a 560SL and I bet it wont even a 450SL. In fact I think the 380SL might just out run it.

My 560SL is about 0.5 sec faster in the 1/4 mile than a 1969 340 Dart with 4 speed and 3.23:1 rear. and it is also about 1.0 sec faster that a 1969 351 4V Cougar with 4 speed and 3.00:1 rear.

The 107 would weight about 1200 lb more than the Dart and 700 lb more than the Cougar. Both having about the same caliber engines as this 107 Chevy specimen.

So putting in the Chevy boat anchor into a heavy car with a 3 speed automatic coupled to a 2.35:1 rear end will probably net an 17.5 second 1/4 mile car.

Now that new 7.0 liter small block alloy Chevy vett engine with a 6 speed manual might be a different story.

The 3-speed automatic isn't going to help gas mileage, that's for sure. With much more modern controls, the Vette engine/tranny might actually do better w/a lot more power to boot. The good news is, the hard part has been done, you could probably pull and replace that engine in a day.

You definatly have a point there Mr Strife. The hard part is definatly done. But for me I'm bitting the big bullet. See my gallery you will get the idea.
