Interior maintenance advice needed

I just purchased new sunvisor clips for my '83 380SL to replace broken clips. Can anyone advise me how to do this replacement? I don't want to damage the sunvisors trying to get the clip to slide off the rod. Also, if I wanted to completely remove the visors, how is this done? I took out the one visible screw but they still seem to be attached.

I would also like to replace the wood console around the shifter. Any pointers on getting that out?

Thanks for any help.

Eric

You have to also remove the top molding. There is another screw under it.
Then to remove the rod from the clip you lossen the screw on the visor next to where the rod enters it. Now you have to turn the rod to a certain position, which you should have received directions for. But you should be able to feel for the position if you dont have directions. There is a clamp inside the visor where the screw you just lossened is. You can grab that clamp through the visor buy putting your thumb on the lossened screw and index finger on the other side of the visor. As you twist the rod you can feel the clamp through the visor material. As you twist the rod you will feel a point where the clamp lines up with a raised area in the rod and the clamp pressure in the direction you are pulling will be slightly relived. Now the rod can be pulled straight out but it is tight.

Does anyone know where I can get a rod or how to take the rod out of the mount so I can have it rechromed?
