Unhappy Fuel Tank Removal

Hi. I have been trying to remove the gas tank from my 73 Mercedes 450SL. I took the fuel pump and gas lines completey off the car and removed the four bolts that keep it in place. Also disconnected the vapor line and tank but something is still holding it in place. I can shake it but it still won,t come out. I did not want to cause damage. Could someone please help. Thanks Charlie.

Did you disconnect the fuel gauge sander unit at the top of the tank? Also return fuel line is on opposite side of the fuel pump. Good luck.

Yep, and after 35 years, that foam padding sticks like glue. If everything is disconnected, you've got to get serious with it and let it know who's boss.

Best tool that you should own is the maintenance manual for your car.
