Climate control puzzle

Hi all, I have been reading on this forum for days and I think I read all about the climate control on and 78 450SL but I still can't solve the puzzle. At first, it was blowing hot no matter what and no air from the center vent at any position. I changed the Valve with the newer version with the aluminum body. Now when I switch from hot to cold by pushing AUTO HI, I get fresh air from the center vent and warm air from the side vents. I took the glove box liner off and like I read in this forum, the foam hose was deteriorated so I'm going to try to find it and replace it but I could see that at the glove box end, it goes to a rubber hose but I don not know where it goes on the other end as I pulled the center dash sensor and I could not find a place where it plugs into it. Anyone had experience with this system who can help me?. Thanks.

I have two pictorial essays, located in the DIY section of this website. Read thru those and see if the info you need is there.

OK, I started digging following the dash sensor cable and in the middle of it I found a round like nut and and pipe like T and now I know how to hook up the hose. I also decided to do somekind of experiment and I pointed a light bulb to the dash sensor and here it comes, ice cold air from both center and side vents, obviously, the A/C works. Thanks everybody.
