R129-Stayfast vs. sonnenland canvas

Question up for opion and comments. Why would you use German canvas as top material that in time will seep water when stayfast material is waterproof throughout its lifetime??????

I would love to read your opinion on what constitutes a good top material for a 107 and why. Also - a stupid question posted to someone knowledgeable: what is so bad about a vinyl convertible top, other than the originality issue? My ex had this material on a Chrysler and it lasted almost 10 years looking great, some in Chicago winters and some in Atlanta summers.
