320 SL Convertible Top Synchronizing

I have a 1996 320 SL. The battery went completely dead. After replacing I was able to re-sequence the windows and get the radio working but the convertible top and roll bar seem stuck. The hard top was installed at the time of replacing the battery. The red lights are on in the roll bar button (roll bar is fully down) and the red light is on in the large convertible top operating button. Top is fully attached and there is no warning when driving the car. Holding the roll bar button in either direction for 30 seconds doesn't work nor does doing the same with the top operating button.

Is there a standard method to re-sequence the roll bar/top operation or will I have to take it to a dealer? I have been by the dealer in Memphis and the service reps have no clue.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Use the forum search tool and search for "soft top controller". There is lots of info on this issue in previous posts..
