107 wheel fitment

What other model benz wheels will work on the 107 chassis? I've got a 1980 450sl and I want to get chrome 15" wheels. Any ideas?

Thanks

Wheels??

Anyone . . . . Anyone . . .

I've been looking, can't find any websites that deal with this or anything. There's got to be some wheel interchange guide or something.

Thanks for any help.

You can probably go to Tire rack and specify wheels for your 107 and then try a different model benz and see if the same wheels come up.

Pretty much if the model in question has bundt cake wheels, they all interchange. I.E., W126 wheels swap to a R107, W123 wheels fit a R107. W114 cars have essentially the same suspension, and will swap as well.

So, anything that is not factory stock that will fit these other cars, will also fit yours.

The only catch I've found is that R107 and W126 cars that had the flat face 15" wheels (86 and up) will not take a 14" wheel becaused the brake calipers will interfere in the front. Not that anyone would ever want to do that of course.......

any 5x112 wheel would work, as long as it has a 30~35mm spacing (ET30, ET32,ET35)its cast into the back of the rim/spoke.
The original bundts are 14x6, ET30, I think... so a 15x7 ET 30~35 would work. I have some SLK rims on my SLC: 16x7.5 ET30 with a 205/55/r16 on the front, and 16x8 ET35 225/50/r16 on the back.
remember that the mercedes wheels use a sphere shaped bolt, where a lot of after market wheels will use a cone shaped bolt. both can be fount on the internet, chrome, for ~$1.50 a bolt.
there are zillions of ET45 15x6 190 E rims out there...they wont fit... but the similar looking s-class ET30 ones will fit.

Originals are 14x6.5, ET23. I just went through a months-long search to recover the original bundt style wheels and lose the ugly aftermarkets someone had put on my 78 450SL.

Better check the spare in the trunk for the offset (ET) before you go looking. The offset in my 380sl is 25mm. The rule of thumb I heard is you're probably safe with a 5mm increase in offset.

Also be careful about buying chromed wheels. Do a search and you should get some good responses on the pro's and cons of chrome wheels.

Maybe. Best way to find out for sure is to try.
For example, I was told that 17x7.5 et37 would not fit on my 560SL but they did.

I am running 15" wheels off a 92 400E on my 80 280SL, with 205-65-15 tires in place of the original Bundts.

I've got a pair of W124 15" wheels on the rear axle of my 85 380Sl parts car. The greater offset of the w124 wheel makes the car look a bit knock kneed, the wheels/tires sir noticeably further in than the stock offset.

If you want the wrong information. Original bundts and steel wheels are 14x6.5 ET30. The later 560SL wheels are 15x7 ET 25. The AMG ATS wheels for the 107 are 16x8 ET11. Other sizes will "fit".
