Can anybody tell me if the wiring harness under the dash disconnects from the harness in the engine compartment? It looks like it should disconnect at the firewall on the passenger side. BTW, it is a 77 450SL.

I cant say for shure on a 77 450SL, but on a 1996 SL600 there is no disconnect. The engine compartment wire harness extends as far foward as the headlights on both sides, throught the firewall on both sides and picks up components under the dash and center console and extends as far back as the rear O2 sensors. At least the 450SL will be significantly simpler.

No, there is no disconnect. There is a main wiring harness and seperate harnesses tie-wrapped to it depending on what options (A/C, power windows)
were originally ordered.
