Angry Aux. air valve

Bosch no longer supplies a aux. air valve. Can aux. air valve be repaired?

I've found threads on cleaning this valve, but I'm surprised you can't find one. Have you checked with the dealership?

Have you tried Fastlane and the other online vendors? Somebody has to have one sitting around.

There is not much to these valves. They have a bulb that sits in the block and a thermostat-like mechanism that closes as the coolant warms up. If it's crudded up, you could try a good soak in carb cleaner.

What is the car doing that makes you think it needs an aux air valve?

When I start up in morning, its takes about 5-10 minutes for the RPM to drop to 1000 RPM. Rest of the day no problem.

That's a little high, but typical. The fact that the idle slows down when it warms up means that the valve is basically working. Have you checked the air hoses for cracks, and made sure that all the clamps are tight?

Check this site for hints on repair:

http://www.jag-lovers.org/xj-s/book/AAV.html

It is a jag site, but they used the AAVs, too.

If you are feeling really frisky you might consider this:

FYI to John and others, it seems like the US vendors have de-listed these items from their inventories. I have found none offered on any of the on-line sources. However, maybe they are just very special order items because in fairness to the vendors, I haven't actually tried to order one, I've just looked for them. That said, I think this european outfit still has a listing.
