transmission service, 91 500SL

I have a 1991 500SL, with 88,000 miles. I am taking it into a local indy this week to have a trans service done on her.
Does this require the MB fluid or can I use something like a royal purple??

Thanks

Matt

Specify the MB fluid for the car. It's not worth taking a chance on something else that may not be right for the car. Likewise with the coolant.

it is a 1991, mb fluid would be good, but likely over kill at close to $20 per quart (takes 8), use Dextron III by valvoline if available

Use the fluid that the car is used too.

Yes, you are right and I have made an 'edit' to my original post.
