Question Help! Car or baby? Is there a child seat that fits a 1987 300 SL?

Hi, I would really appreciate some advice on whether there is a child seat (MB or other) that fits the 300SL - front or back. Britax didn't think there was.

Ours is a 1987 model and I cannot see a 3rd fixing point in rear seats.

If we cannot find a child seat (he's 9 months now) my wife is keen to change the car - a sad (and pretty expensive option) All help appreciated!

Thanks, Shane

In the US, the car seats can be restrained by a simple lap belt passed through their middle. Yes, having the three anchor points is quite helpful for those little straps and I use them all the time in the cars that have them. But the seatbelt itself works too.

If that doesn't work, we can always trade cars until your kids old enough.

You could install a third anchor point under the soft top lid...you know..to appease the missus and provide a more secure seat for the youngun.

Agreed. I have a folding rear seat and asked the original designer if he ever thought about shoulder straps. He said the demand wasn't great enough and one would have to be fabricated as mentioned by nobby.

3rd seat belt fixing

Hi

I've been thiking about fitting 3 point belts in the back of my Euro 300SL (rear seat factory fitted) purely as I feel that the lap belts are a bit less safe when my Grandson is in the back.

I've got as far as geting some Britax recoil belts from a scrap yard but not found a way of fixing them yet. I am loath to midify the hood cover but I think that's going to be the only way.

Any ideas out there?

cheers

Jim

I would simply tell the miss's that now she has her baby, so you have to have yours also and she can live with it...

Use the word "Beeyaatch" it always worked for me...lol
